The Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton (CCAH) was established in 1977 as a non-profit organization that gained charitable status in 2000. The organization promotes awareness that unity in diversity, full and active participation, unbiased inclusion, and the capacity to value differences equally are essential to the social, cultural, and economic growth of Halton Region. Membership is open to anyone who shares our interests and supports the objectives of the organization. There is also an opportunity for youth to get involved in a wide range of activities and programs.
We work in partnership with Halton Region school boards to deliver advocacy, guidance and Afro-Caribbean cultural learning experiences [expander_maker id=”1″ more=”Read more” less=”Read less”] with the goal of fostering engagement, increasing understanding, and creating supportive spaces.

We promote Afro-Caribbean culture and history through the establishment of various programs to showcase diversity in Halton Region. [expander_maker id=”1″ more=”Read more” less=”Read less”] CCAH has an established inter-generational steel pan program as well as a parang program for the community to discover various forms of Caribbean music. The organization also offers a variety of other cultural programs including outreach to seniors and long-term care facilities, Sizzlin’ Halton Caribbean cooking, a library program in Milton focusing on black authors, and Black history bike and walking tours in Oakville. We deliver numerous events and programs with a primary focus on promoting community engagement and awareness of Afro-Caribbean history and culture in Halton Region.[expander_maker id=”1″ more=”Read more” less=”Read less”] These include events such as Emancipation Day celebrations, Black History Month program offerings, Culture Days, a BIPOC day camp, and community music performances, all involving partnerships with a variety of community organizations. We participate in and sponsor research studies which help provide insight to understanding diversity in Halton Region.[expander_maker id=”4″ more=”Read more” less=”Read less”] The CCAH also partners with the Halton Regional Police Service to enhance their community-based policing approach as well as co-deliver diversity and youth-focused programs.[/expander_maker]
